AirAsia develops young talents with PJ Rangers Junior Tryouts

50 promising young footballers from Petaling Jaya were selected to join PJ Rangers youth team

AirAsia continues its efforts to develop young and upcoming talents through the AirAsia - PJ Rangers Junior Tryouts in Petaling Jaya which is an open session for Under-14 and Under-16 players. Selected players will join PJ Rangers as part of their junior squads to play in the upcoming AirAsia KL Junior League.

The young football players went through an intensive tryouts session led by PJ Rangers Head Coach, Mohd Zan while being advised by a Technical Lead Consultant for PJ Rangers youth program. 150 hopeful youngsters from Petaling Jaya participated in the tryouts as PJ Rangers aim to build a youth team of homegrown talents while giving them a platform to further develop their talents.

A total of 50 talented youngsters were chosen, 25 for Under-14 category and 25 for Under-16 Category. Both group of players will go on to represent the PJ Rangers under-14 and under-16 football team to compete in the AirAsia-KL Junior League, which will kick off from 19 August 2017 at New Camp Bandar Utama, Damansara.

During the tryouts session, the players were divided into 2 groups of under-14 and under-16 where they were segregated according to the position that they play in and were put into teams. Each team then played for ten minutes and each player were monitored and given points based on their individual performance. Points were given based on 5 main criteria, which are technique, tactical awareness, physical attributes, coordination and mental strength/psychological.
